THE UNIVERSITY OF THE WEST OF ENGLAND'S (UWE) SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING, DELIVERS A NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING WHICH SUPPORTS THE UNIVERSITY'S VISION OF PROMOTING MULTI-DISCIPLINARY COLLABORATIVE LEARNING AND ESTABLISHES A CLEAR NEW IDENTITY FOR THE UNIVERSITY'S ENGINEERING PROGRAMMES AT THE FRENCHAY CAMPUS.
Accommodating 1,600 students and 100 staff, the building form is organised around a central atrium and reflects the University’s aim to deliver an excellent student experience, through a dynamic and navigable layout.
The facility radically transforms the delivery of engineering with highly flexible lab and workshop spaces supported by rapid prototyping and studio space.
Flexibility is maximised across all spaces, using multiple stepping floor plates, the building encourages cross discipline use and allows for easy reconfiguration to enable sharing of resources. All circulation and corridors double up for learning and project spaces.
