We obtained all statutory consents including Network Rail Landlord Approval and Listed Building Consent and acted as Principal Designer.
AHR was commissioned to create a new entrance and automatic ticket gate facility to the West side of the station (Platform 2) whilst also incorporating a retail facility. Our design proposed refurbishment and alteration of the Grade II* listed building to the Platform 2 side of the station to form a new entrance to this side of the station. The building was largely disused and in a dilapidated condition and has now been altered and fully restored by retaining historical and architectural features.
The works included relocation of the Station Managers and Customer Services offices, refurbishment of the existing waiting room and a new ticket hall. The new ticket hall on Platform 2 and existing ticket hall on Platform 1 where fitted with automatic ticket gates.
